20 years since first Internet connection in Estonia
The first TCP/IP connection for Estonia - a 64 kbps satellite link between Estonian National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (NICPB) in Tallinn and Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) in Stockholm, Sweden, - was launched on 26th March 1992.
At that time the network of NICPB consisted of a CISCO AGS router - borrowed from KTH-, a MAC and a computer running SCO Unix.
The persons present at that historical event were:
- Andres Bauman (NICPB)
- Jaak Lippmaa (NICPB)
- Toomas Kadarpik (Estonian Academic Library; Institute of Cybernetics)
- Johnny Eriksson (KTH)
- Rolf Ingelstam (Swedish Space Corporation - SSC)
- Marcus Selin (SSC)
