Most important cooperation projects in 2010

• GN3 project continued
• The BalticGrid II project ended on 30 April 2010
• In December 2010 DC-NET project was launched. The main objective of the DC-NET project is to develop and to strengthen the co-ordination among the European countries of public research programmes in the sector of the digital cultural heritage. The project will integrate the research capacities of the participant member states, will identify their communalities and will valorise existing programmes and projects in order to initiate the deployment of a wide and comprehensive European e-Infrastructure that will increase the research capacities of the digital cultural heritage community.
• The 9th computer drawing competition “Biodiversity” took place in cooperation with Institute of Geology. 4435 pictures from 3964 different authors were submitted. Altogether 195 Estonian schools participated in the competition.
• Popular wildlife webcamera projects and culturally educating live broadcasts continued in 2010:
  • starting from 07.03.2009, the grey seal camera continued
  • since 03.03.2010 white-tailed eagle
  • since 26.03.2010 ETV and ETV2
  • since 08.04.2010 the black storks nest
  • since 12.04.2010 nest of tawny owl
  • since 13.04.2010 lesser spotted eagles
  • since 14.12.2010 white-tailed eagles feeding ground
  • since 22.12.2010 the wild animals feeding ground and winter bird feeder camera

Domain name registration

On July 2, 2010 EENet handed the .ee domain register over to Estonian Internet Foundation (EIS). Starting from July 3, 2010 the register is administered by EIS. EENet continues to operate as an accredited .ee registrar for Estonia's research, educational and cultural communities.
