• Most important network changes in 2007:
  • Estonian academic network connection speed was updated in February 2007 from 310 Mbps to 500 Mbps.
  • The optical network for educational institutions in Võru was finished and connected to the EENet backbone in Tartu at the speed of 100 Mbps.
  • Tallinn-Kuressaare channel was updated to 10 Mbps.

Most important collaboration projects in 2007

• In 30. April 2007 the Porta Optica Study project ended.
• The Baltic Grid project was continued to connect the Baltic grid computing resources to the universal grid network system.
• 3333 pictures from 2924 different authors competer in the Sixth EENet Computer Drawing Competition. In the Pan-European contest Estonian drawers received one first and one second place.
• Via EENet server the bird watchers were able to observe live broadcasts from the Black Stork`s nest (from April to August) and from the Birds ` feeding house (since December). The live broadcasts also received a second award in the Good Environmental Deeds evaluation in Estonia.

The Registration of Domain Names.

In 01.01.2008 53418 domain names were registered under the .ee TDL server, 7127 of them under .pri.ee, 283 under .fie.ee, 105 under .org.ee and 76 under .com.ee.
